In our quest to learn more about water, we have discovered some amazing facts.

Clear, pure knowledge about water

You may not know this but the water you use and drink is the same water that your grand parents used, and their grandparents and their grandparents. The water that exists on the earth today is the same water that has been here from the beginning. Water is the ultimate recyclable product. Water is used and recycled daily through a process called the Hydrologic Cycle or Water Cycle.

How much water is there to use?

97 percent of the earth's water is in the oceans with only 3 percent fresh water. Of that 3 percent over 2/3 is frozen in glaciers and icecaps. Less than 1 percent of the water on earth is drinkable but most of that is underground. In fact about 0.3 percent of the fresh water on earth is available to us in our daily lives.

In Canada we are fortunate to have some of the most abundant sources of freshwater on earth. While we have some of the highest quality water in the world there are issues that are causing concern. Increasingly industrial and agricultural run off and pharmaceutical contamination are contaminating our water supply. Recent tests have found manmade pharmaceuticals in penguins at the South Pole; the contamination is all around us.

Municipal water treatment and delivery practices provide cleaning but also leave behind lead, heavy metals and chlorine byproducts. Increasingly, Canadians are becoming more concerned about their water and are looking for purified water options.

How much water do you need?

You lose at least 2 litres of water per day. It’s important to drink 2 to 3 litres of water per day. How many bottles of water per month, do you need to be properly hydrated?
